After a fierce battle, Tanjiro and Rengoku managed to decapitate Enmu, but he revealed that he had fused his head with the train. Akaza and Rengoku fought with incredible speed and power, exchanging blows that shook the ground. Akaza used his Destructive Death technique, which allowed him to manipulate his flesh and blood into deadly weapons. Rengoku used his Flame Breathing technique, which created flames that could burn anything. The two warriors were evenly matched, but Akaza had an advantage: he could regenerate from any wound, while Rengoku could not. Akaza also tried to persuade Rengoku to join him as a demon, but Rengoku refused, saying that he would never betray his humanity or his duty as a Hashira.
